Every summer I have the pleasure of spending a few idyllic weeks in the bucolic Berkshire Mountains of western Massachusetts. I like to stop in at the historic Lenox Library, a vibrant hub of intellectual and cultural life in an area brimming with literature, theater, dance and the world-famous Tanglewood Music Center — the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Do you have a favorite place you return to every summer to soak up the local literary scene?

I am in New England as we speak, and the very first signs of fall have arrived. I was thinking about how I never get much writing done in the summer, but how at this time of year the subtle coldness in the air and the crimson on the trees makes me inspired to get back on the horse. Enjoy Lenox…I studied in Western Mass and found it an incredible place to write, especially in the fall.
